Science is currently undergoing a fundamental paradigm shift. The currently dominant paradigm of separate material things connected by mechanistic relations of cause and effect is failing; there are ever more things and processes it cannot account for. Classical science’s conception of the universe has turn out to be flawed. The primary “stuff” of the universe is energy and not matter, and space is neither empty nor passive-it’s filled with virtual energies and information. The universe is an involving integral system, staggeringly coherent and interconnected.

Advanced Soul
A human being whose spiritual development has exceeded that attainable by other people.

Aeromancy
Divination by observing atmospheric conditions including the direction in which the birds fly and the shape of the clouds.

Akasha
In Hinduism Akasha means the basis and essence of all things in the material world; the smallest material element created from the astral world that feels all space.According to occult teaching, every thought and action which takes place in the material world, is recorded in this akashic medium, whereby one possessed of psychic vision can read and translate the panorama of history, the Akashic Records. They also hint that some day science will be able to tap this record and thus draw upon and even re-enact the words and actions of past ages.

Scenic representations of every action, sentiment and thought since the beginning of the world.

Alchemy
The word alchemy derives in turn from the Old French alkemie; from the Medieval Latin alchimia; from the Arabic al-kimia (الكيمياء); and ultimately from the Ancient Greek khemia (Χημία) meaning "art of transmuting metals"(Oxford English Dictionary Online, s.v. Alchemy, accessed 10 Feb 2010). While chemistry deals with lifeless matter, alchemy employs life as a factor, and deals with higher forces of nature and the conditions of matter under which they operate. Essential to alchemy was the discovery of the Philosophers stone which would enable them in its lowest aspect to transmute base metals into gold and in its highest aspect to use it for the realization of man’s full faculties, the purification of mind, the discovery of the Panacea, the Elixir of life which would transmute the human body into an incorporate body of light thus securing the joy of Divine love.

Altered State(s) of Consciousness (ASC)
This is considered to be any mental state differing from that of the normal waking consciousness. Most para-psychological or metaphysical activities produce or require an ASC in order to take place or achieved whether that be communication with the spirit world or our higher self, dreaming, hypnosis, meditation, trance, telepathy, OOBEs, etc. All of these activities will alter in some way our normal state of consciousness.

ASC produce measurable physical and mental changes in our physical body. Medical equipment that monitor our vital signs (heartbeat, body temperature, respiration rate, and blood pressure) and our brain activity can record these changes. Most often we have a reduction of the values of these variables, i.e. reduction in body temperature, heartbeat, and brain waves (usually from a Beta to an Alpha or Theta brain wave).

Angels
An angel is a supernatural being found in many religions. In scripture, they typically act as messengers, as held by the three prominent monotheistic faiths, Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

Apparition
An apparition is an appearance to a human of a ghost.

Astral
Relating to a subtle body and plane of existence that coexist with and survive the death of the human physical body.

Astral body
The astral body refers to the concept of a subtle body which exists alongside the physical body, as a vehicle of the soul or consciousness. It is usually understood as being of an emotional nature and, as such, it is equated to the desire body or emotional body.

Astral plane
The astral plane, also called the astral world or desire world, is a plane of existence according to esoteric philosophies, some religious teachings and New Age thought.

Astral Projection
Out-Of-Body Experience (OBE or sometimes OOBE) is defined as any experience in which a person feels separated, projected or floating away from their physical body and are able to travel, perceive, and in most cases record and recollect there experiences to non-physical planes of existence.

AURA
This is the normal electromagnetic energy field surrounding any living life form. It is visualized as a field of subtle, multicoloured, luminous radiations emanating from any living bodies as a halo or cocoon. The human energy field (human aura) fluctuates with a person’s physiological, mental and psychological status.
Is composed of seven layers or seven bodies; Etheric, Emotional, Mental, Astral,
Celestial, and the Ketheric or Causal Body.
